Maybe the growing popularity of Turkish dramas is a reaction to such restrictive mindset, sort of a rebellion against the suffocating influence of our local dramas. I watched them as a child so my opinion may be flawed.

I am always amazed at the incredibly old fashioned nature of material pumped by Indian channels pumped on British television.

The time now is Knowing the Pakistani awaam they will just hate without even going to that place. I particularly liked one ful, involving psychoanalysis he wrote for PTV.

Its not all Indian dramas influence though I agree they are partly to blame. Its the growing conservatism and religiosity in our society, the mainstream becoming what used to be restricted to a small minority. Pakistanis drama are the lowest common denominator of storytelling and acting.
